The event went well after nearly missing it due to being on wrong side of platform to get the train haha . I don’t think I have ever been so cold in my life, I was only sore for a day then I was all good, it felt like a very long 12 miles anyway!!

The course was very hilly and muddy with many obstacles such as jumping into a skip of ice to more stuff was done like going over walls and monkey bars. The skip of ice was one of the worst followed by the electric shock obstacle which felt like you were getting punched, to then be disappointed at the finish line with a ginger ale instead of a beer haha. Overall, it was a good day and a laugh.

Forces Children’s Trust Fun Day

On the 06 July 2013 Scott Green and his sister Suzanne Brannan organised a “Forces Children’s Trust Charity Fun Day”. The event took place in Rawtenstall in Lancashire and the theme was based loosely on a village fete with local traders selling their products. Highlights included performances from local children’s dance groups and guest appearance from the BBC’s “The Voice” semi-finalist Lareena Mitchell. Also helping raise funds on the day was “Captain Jack Sparrow” and the crew from “Disney Cars”. Thank you to all the local residents who helped raise £1,575.00 for the Forces Children’s Trust.

GUILD OF AVIATION ARTISTS

Christopher Draper is an artist, Illustrator and a member of the Guild of Aviation Artists. For this years Annual exhibition he will be showing his recent painting titled “repatriation”.

The painting is for sale and after consulting with many of his friends who are currently serving in the armed forces would like to donate £200 of the sale price to the Forces Childrens Trust.

The Guild of Aviation artist annual exhibition is held at the Mall Galleries London, from Monday 22nd July to Sunday 28th July. More details can be found at www.gava.org.uk.

Fund Raising Friends

Fund Raising Friends the local group of enthusiastic ladies who organise events to raise money for local children’s charities were delighted to handover a cheque for £4,500 to The Forces Children’s Trust founder Denny Wise this week.

This followed a very successful concert organised with the help of the pupils and their Director of Music Malcom Singer at the Yehudi Menuhin School of Music on May 11th.

It was an exceptionally good evening which showcased the incredible and varied talents of these young people from all over the world. The Forces Children’s Trust founded by Denny Wise in Epsom following the Iraq conflict supports children whose parent has died or sustained life changing injuries whilst serving in the British Armed Forces.

Wendy’s poignant fundraiser.

Wendy Evans whose children are members of the Forces Children’s Trust, took part in 3 back to back classes of RPM at Everyone Active Fareham Leisure Centre, on Sunday 9th June.

Wendy started this grueling task at 9am and finished at 1130am. She had a bucket for donations on the day and Wendy’s Family and friends raised further funds by sponsoring Wendy via her BT MyDonate page.

Wendy said “It allowed me to do something that I really enjoy doing whilst raising money for the Forces Children’s Trust and it was also poignant as the 10th June was the first anniversary of Darren’s death”.
